Pagecord: The new home for moonwriting

Dear reader,

I have some news to share with you.

After a lot of consideration, moonwriting is moving from Mataroa to Pagecord, where I will continue my writing. Even though I have enjoyed my time with Mataroa, and would still recommend the platform for anyone interested, I feel like my needs have evolved, and Pagecord fits my current needs better.

When I created my blog last year, I wasn't at all certain how things would go. Maybe I would quit shortly after if I didn't like blogging. So, what I really wanted to find was a blogging platform that respected my readers' privacy while allowing me to fully focus on writing. With the start of the new year, I felt like the time was right to make the switch.

Why Pagecord

My three core issues that have slowly begun bothering me with Mataroa include the lack of customization options, plain text (markdown) editor, and bare-bones analytics. These are all things that Pagecord will improve.

While I didn’t care about customization when I started blogging, reading a lot of other people’s blogs has made me want to have a more personalized look for my blog as well. While the look that Mataroa gives is simple and I like it, it still looks practically identical to all blogs on Mataroa, and you can’t really do much about it. With Pagecord, I can still keep things clean and minimal, but overall, the changes I have been able to make have made a big difference, and the blog feels more me now.

With Mataroa, I used to first write my blog posts on Notesnook or Cryptee before exporting the text to a markdown editor, from where I then pasted the text into Mataroa’s editor. Now I can do all my writing on Pagecord’s rich text editor, which will simplify my workflow with writing and publishing new blog posts. No need to deal with Markdown anymore.

Regarding analytics, Mataroa doesn't really provide much information, so I wanted something that would give me that while still respecting readers' privacy. And Pagecord has done exactly this.

There were many candidates for replacing Mataroa, such as Bear and Pika, but Pagecord won me over with its speedy development speed, open source code base, and affordable premium tier at $29. Now that I have been using Pagecord for a few days, the user-friendliness and the developer support have been top-notch.

What this change means for you

All the old links to my Mataroa blog will soon redirect to Pagecord, but if you have subscribed via an RSS feed, you need the new feed. If you have subscribed via email, you need to do that again. At the bottom of the home page and each post, there is a window that allows you to do that. You can still leave comments, but the implementation is different.

It's been incredible to notice that people are actually reading what I'm writing, and the feedback I have received has been very kind and rewarding. I hope you will continue reading my blog and share your feedback. Happy new year! 🌔
